HEARING CHILDREN ALERT

Newborns are vulnerable to hearing loss. The worry is the lack of maternal understand and attention to this. Mothers need to know the baby's reflexes when get stimuli such as music, voices, or others associated with hearing babies. In fact, the earlier the disorder is known to recover the greater the opportunity. The experts also support this that the sooner a problem is detected, the better the children adapt to the methods of stimulation and learning. Many problems of hearing loss that can be resolved when the baby is 3 months old yet.

In the first few years of life, hearing is an important part in the development of social, emotional, and cognitive child. Even mild or partial hearing loss can affect children's ability to speak and understand language.

Hearing loss in infants can be diagnosed by examination of hearing. The earliest is a doctor or midwife to do a simple hearing test to check the baby's hearing before leaving the hospital or maternity home. However, do not panic or assume the existence of disorder, when the baby does not pass the hearing test because there are many other factors that could cause the baby's hearing impaired. Such as dirt or excessive ear fluid can also be a factor causing the disruption of hearing. So it's important to always evaluate the health of our little baby from the beginning till the birth of a child grows into an intelligent and active.


Some risk factors for hearing loss in children such as:

premature birth

stay in neonatal intensive care unit

high bilirubin requiring a transfusion

given the drugs that can cause hearing loss

have a family history of hearing loss

had complications at birth

ear infections or other infections such as meningitis, toxoplasmosis or cytomegalovirus

exposure to very loud voice.
Most newborns will be surprised when they hear a sudden loud noise. 3-month-old baby usually recognize the voice of parents. At the age of 6 months, the baby has been shifting gaze or turned his head toward the sound. If your child did not respond to normal hearing, immediately checked the child to a specialist ENT or hearing specialist (audiology). The doctor will typically examine your child's hearing by eudiometry and other clinical examinations. Audiometric examinations performed in a soundproof booth with games and special equipment that allows physicians to assess the level of hearing children. Children who appear to have normal hearing should still be evaluated periodically and at any time if there is a concern. Many learning problems in school achievement and communication difficulties of children who were unwittingly caused by hearing problems.
